Art was a childhood friend, and it still is my one true companion to this day. It has grown more precious to me as days passed by. I can never forget where it all started; I was in kindergarten when I participated in my first drawing “competition”.
Spoiler, I did not win because I knew nothing of art and I was just someone’s replacement that just happened to pass by. It was out of mere coincidence that I ended up discovering my love for art. That day I saw my first inspiration, the little cute house figure and flowers that the winner had painted, compared to my disappointing scribbles that did not even get put on display. From that day on I started drawing what I saw, from stick figures to cartoons to animals and now people.
I regret not allowing myself the room to express my ideas through art, and be more creative earlier in my journey; I picked up a habit of just drawing what I deem beautiful art. However, now I realize how important expressing oneself is. showing ideas and values through art is a blessing. putting that as my new objective, I have began to become more expressive in my art, an art that embodies emotions of an artist, as ambivalent as it can get.
